The Club sponsors eye testing and scripts for people who are unable to afford it. In addition we donate money to Brightsight and Cataract surgery as well as collect used spectacles for Brightsight
We assist the Parkwood Community Health Centre when needed. All the children are treated to a Christmas Party annually.
One of our members is a voluntary worker at the Emergency Unit at Victoria Hospital in Wynberg. Through her involvement
the Club is supporting the Unit. We have donated 2 Ear Thermometers and 2 Drip Stands to them and furbished their Bereavement Room
The Club has decided to adopt the Catholic Hostel for the Deaf as a project.
This hostel which is based in Heathfield provides accommodation to about 30 deaf people. Most of these people rely on very small state grants to get along.
We entertain them with Bingo on a regular basis. The numbers are signed to them as well as being shown on a laptop.
It is really enjoyed by all who participate, even though the Lions at the project at first found it difficult to come to terms with the silence.
Every December we treat them to a tea, lunch or outing.
